Dr. Michael Stubblefield serves as the national director of the ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation Program.  His primary responsibility is to provide medical oversight and high-level input into the clinical, educational and academic activities of the program.

Dr. Stubblefield joined Select Medical in 2015 as national medical director for cancer rehabilitation and medical director for cancer rehabilitation at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, New Jersey where he maintains a clinical practice.  He continues to hold those posts in addition to his role with the ReVital program. Previously, Dr. Stubblefield was former chief of cancer rehabilitation at Memorial Sloan-Kettering.

Dr. Stubblefield is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), Internal Medicine, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.  His primary clinical expertise is in the identification, evaluation, and rehabilitation of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, pain, and functional disorders resulting from cancer and its treatment, particularly those caused by radiation and neurotoxic chemotherapy.

Additionally, he is a clinical professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School as well as an accomplished researcher who has published extensively in rehabilitation literature as well as oncology, pain management, palliative care, neurophysiology and other journals.  He has authored numerous review articles and book chapters in the field of cancer rehabilitation and is the editor of Cancer Rehabilitation: Principles and Practice, the only comprehensive textbook in this emerging field now in its second edition.

Dr. Stubblefield graduated from Brown University in 1992 with an AB in biology and a second major, AB with honors, in philosophy.  He graduated from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1996.  He completed combined residencies in internal medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center in 2001.
